Bev Clarno

Bev Clarno is a native Oregonian and former Speaker of the House of Representatives. Bev was elected to the Senate in 2000 and became the Republican Leader in 2002. President Bush appointed her in 2003 to the position of Region 10 director for Health and Human Services for the Federal Government for Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska. Bev is well known as an opponent of excessive taxes and advocate for small, efficient, government. As Speaker, Bev led the effort to balance the budget without new taxes and to return more than $320 million in excess tax money to Oregonians. In 2006 Bev served as Deschutes County Commissioner and now serves her community on various boards and commissions. She is active with her Clarno Consulting company advising on political strategies for candidates, organizations and communities. Bev earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Marylhurst University.
