Close Elections and the Legal Battles that Follow

In anticipation of a close presidential election, Jonathan Tobin writes at about the potential for voter fraud and the battle between Democrat and Republican lawyers that is sure to follow.  Tobin concludes: “We will never overcome the distrust of the parties for each other, and close elections are always going to produce anger and lawsuits, as well as undermine the legitimacy of the process. But if more states adopted reasonable laws aimed at curbing fraud, it will be easier to minimize the damage the next time the system cracks up.”  Read Tobin’s full commentary here.
